Offerings now include clarifiers greater than 57 feet, gear drive systems
AUC Group has a long history of providing comprehensive wastewater treatment solutions for a variety of customers. We offer a diverse range of treatment options, from permanent, field-erected steel plants to modular packaged systems for temporary or remote needs.
This flexibility allows us to tailor our solutions to the specific requirements of each project, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness. Whether it’s a municipality with growing wastewater demands or a commercial facility requiring specialized treatment processes, AUC has the expertise and resources to meet those needs.
And now, AUC can provide large-scale wastewater treatment plants with clarifiers that exceed 57 feet in diameter. This upgrade, enabled by our recent acquisition of WAWCON assets, allows us to serve customers with even larger wastewater treatment challenges while cutting submittal-to-delivery timelines to just 12 weeks—versus 30+ weeks for most competitors.
A Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Capabilities
WAWCON, a renowned name in the industry, has long delivered high-quality, durable water and wastewater treatment equipment. By integrating WAWCON expertise into AUC operations, we are expanding our ability to design, engineer, and construct larger, more efficient clarifier systems. This partnership allows us to offer a comprehensive range of wastewater treatment projects.
Adding WAWCON’s top-durability clarifier internals for larger systems will allow AUC to construct its steel or concrete design clarifiers to larger specifications than ever for maximum efficiency and reliability. In February, AUC will break ground on a 1.6 MGD package wastewater treatment plant for the city of Freeport, Texas, home to a major Dow Chemical facility. It will include the larger clarifier design. Other projects in progress include Sunterra (68′ clarifier), Cross Gates (131′ tank with 68′ clarifier), and Georgetown’s Pecan Branch (138′ tank with 75′ clarifier), demonstrating real-world adoption of our new capabilities.
The Power of Large Clarifiers
With this acquisition, AUC will provide structural steel components fabricated from 1/4″ or thicker quality steel, with full penetration welds, that are then painted or hot-dip galvanized. Many grades of stainless steel and quality aluminum are available.
AUC’s expanded clarifier offerings now include gear drive systems. These systems are designed with top-mounted access points for simplified maintenance of all drive components. Materials for other parts are hot-dip galvanized steel or stainless steel. Other components, including the drive cage and collector arms, are overbuilt for at least 2.5 times the drive’s running torque. A standard full basin scum beach can extend from the inlet well to the baffle to thoroughly skim the surface with two skimmers. Standard equipment also includes stainless steel weirs, baffles, and supports, and all anchorage and fasteners are made of stainless steel.
Beyond components, AUC now fabricates pier-supported internals, spiral rake options, and intermittent self-flushing scum collectors in-house, giving us better quality control and shorter lead times.
Larger clarifiers offer several key advantages.
- Increased capacity: They can handle higher flow rates, making them ideal for municipalities and industrial facilities with growing wastewater demands.
- Improved efficiency: The optimized design and advanced internals ensure efficient solid-liquid separation, resulting in higher-quality effluent and reduced sludge production.
- Enhanced reliability: WAWCON’s proven track record of building durable equipment guarantees long-term performance and reliability, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
Smaller footprint & simpler O&M: Fewer basins and mechanical assemblies reduce land requirements and ongoing maintenance needs, which is ideal for master-planned communities, phased developments, and municipal upgrades.
Flexibility: Clarifier internals can be deployed as equipment-only, retrofits, or turnkey with installation, and are compatible with both concrete and steel tanks.
AUC is in the business of removing the financial, regulatory, and physical obstacles that can block the way to water infrastructure customers need, and we are looking forward to removing even larger obstacles with the power of durable internals for efficient, large-scale clarifiers. For phased plants, this also means modular tanks can ultimately be replaced by a single concentric clarifier, creating long-term savings and operational simplicity.
